Complex Parts. Compact Sizes. One Solution: Metal Injection Molding

Did you ever ask yourself how the smallest parts of Headphone, Hearing aids, Mobile phones, and Medical device are manufactured? They may be small in size, but they accomplish some really big tasks and behind many of them is a technology that quietly drives the world of compact engineering: Metal Injection Molding, or MIM.
At INDO-MIM, we don’t think that small component has to be simple. As a matter of fact, the smaller the part, the more important its performance and design. That’s precisely where MIM excels.

The Challenge of Going Small
As things become more intelligent and slender, the call for miniaturized parts only grows. But small metal components with intricate geometry aren’t that simple to make—particularly not in high quantity. Conventional machining techniques are usually not suitable. In that too much material wastage, time and will not achieve enough accuracy.
That’s why most of the top producers rely on MIM. It’s a method that’s geared to meet complexity and volume—without sacrificing performance or price.

Complex Shapes, Made Simple
One of the best aspects of MIM is that it lets engineers dream big—no matter how small the parts are. Need a part with undercuts, thin walls, or fine details? No problem. MIM shapes them out with amazing precision. No multiple machining steps or assembly required—just one brilliant process that does the trick.
For instance, we collaborated with an international consumer company to create a micro hinges for spectacles. The component was too minute and complicated to machine by conventional means—but MIM accommodated it nicely, and we made millions without deviation in quality.

Made to Last, Even at Micro Size

MIM components are amazingly strong and dense—and even compare favorably with forged or machined parts. That’s due to the accuracy of our powder metallurgy and sintering processes, which deliver close to full density and superior mechanical properties.
In one instance, we collaborated with a medical device company to manufacture a tiny sound tube components for a hearing aid device. The application required high strength, corrosion resistance, and perfect performance in a small package—MIM excelled on all counts.

Small Parts, Big Possibilities
At INDO-MIM, we’ve assisted customers from various industries—consumer electronics, medical and more—in realizing their small-form product designs. We don’t simply produce parts. We resolve design issues, enable scaling, and introduce innovation into the palm of your hand.
