INDO-MIM Internet Usage Policy
Objective and scope of this policy
This internet use policy is current as of Dec-2022.
This internet use policy is intended to provide guidelines for the acceptable use of the internet, computers, email, and other forms of technology used in connection with The guidelines set in this policy are intended to provide examples of inappropriate behaviours that are prohibited in INDO-MIM. The acts outlined in this document are also intended to serve as a precedent for addressing related unacceptable behaviours concerning the use of the internet and other technology provided by INDO-MIM.
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and other associates of INDO-MIM. You hereby agree to abide by the principles stated within the policy. Violation of this policy could result in disciplinary and/or legal action including termination of your employment with INDO-MIM. Employees may also be held liable for damages caused by any violations of this policy.
Important Note: This policy applies to users using INDO-MIM Wi-Fi services on their personal devices like smart phones, laptops, etc.
Guidelines for use of the internet in the workplace
Bullying, harassment, discrimination, and other hostile behaviour
Employees of INDO-MIM are trusted to use company property in a way that is respectful and appropriate. INDO-MIM has zero tolerance for comments and actions that would be considered racist, sexist, derogatory, vulgar, threatening, harassing, or otherwise discriminatory. This includes but is not limited to actions and comments partaken when using the internet and other technology provided by INDO-MIM.
Personal use of the internet during work hours
Employees are expected to use company-provided internet and other devices as a resource for completing their assigned duties and supporting the objectives of INDO-MIM.
Excessive personal use of company internet (“cyberloafing”) during work hours is not permitted, however occasional and reasonable personal use is acceptable, so long as:
- Frivolous use of the internet does not interfere with employee productivity, including the quality of work produced and other indicators of performance.
- The employee’s personal use of the internet does not violate any other guidelines contained within this document.
- Personal use does not cause undue effects to the company network by consuming an excessive amount of the limited available bandwidth. Examples include but are not limited to downloading/uploading unreasonably large files and streaming videos.
- Employees do not use company property to perform commercial services outside of tasks and projects assigned by INDO-MIM.
Piracy, data theft, unauthorized data transfer, hacking, and other illicit or unsafe activity
Users are expected to always comply to INDO-MIM policies, and/or Regulatory laws while using INDO-MIM’s Internet and INDO-MIM network/systems.
The following activities are strictly forbidden on company’s equipment/network (includes Wi-Fi)/computer systems:
- Causing a security breach to either Indo-MIM or other network resources, including, but not limited to, accessing data, servers, or accounts to which users are not authorized; circumventing user authentication on any device; or sniffing network traffic.
- Causing a disruption of service to either INDO-MIM or other network resources, including, but not limited to, ICMP floods, packet spoofing, denial of service, heap or buffer overflows, and forged routing information for malicious purposes etc.
- Violating copyright law, including, but not limited to, illegally duplicating, downloading, or transmitting copyrighted pictures, music, films, video, other digital goods, and software(“Piracy”).
- Exporting or importing software, Source Codes, technical information, encryption software, or technology in violation of international or regional export control laws.
- Unauthorized File transfers or access to File Transfer Sites (internal or external)
- Downloading and/or Installing software on company computers without the authorization of a company Information Security (InfoSec) representative.
- Gaining unauthorized access to programs, systems (physical or remote), websites, etc (“Hacking”). Any attempt to secure a higher level of privilege than ordinarily available to a User on the INDO-MIM IT Assets.
- Connecting to other systems, in evasion of the physical limitations of the remote systems / local systems.
- Copying, modifying, decryption of systems files or the registry.
- Unauthorized Port scanning or security scanning on INDO-MIM network.
- Sharing confidential material, trade secrets, or other proprietary information to unauthorised persons inside and outside of INDO-MIM.
- Activities for personal commercial gains using INDO-MIM systems and network.
- Introducing malicious software (“Malware”) onto the company network or performing other actions that put the security of the organization at risk
- Attempting to bypass the company web filter to access blocked material/websites.
- Attempting to disable the company’s end point security solutions like Antivirus, Mobile Device Management, etc.
- Accessing content that would reasonably be considered not safe for work such as movies, songs, pornography, violent imagery, and other adult-oriented content.
- Accessing personal chat, dating sites, etc.
- Using private email addresses (like Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo, Rediff mail, etc.) for any form of official communication and vice-versa. Emails from suppliers / contractors through private emails addressees shall strictly be discouraged.
- Sharing or leaking passwords or other credentials (internally and externally) with anyone.
- Unauthorized use of social media (like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, etc.) to publish information related to work or company.
- Unauthorized registrations on Internet using official email addresses. Always validate the portals before any such online registrations done for official purposes.
- Inappropriate, unprofessional On-line behaviour.
The rights of the company
Employee monitoring
The equipment / System / Network used to access the internet is the property of INDO-MIM. INDO-MIM may use employee monitoring software to ensure the acceptable use of technology by its employees, maintain the security of company data and property, and assist with employee productivity tracking. This activity tracking software will be used to monitor employee computer activity, including monitoring internet activity such as the websites visited by employees and their actions in the computer systems.
Copyrights
All data that is created on INDO-MIM computer systems is considered to be owned by INDO-MIM. Unauthorized disclosure of this data is not permitted and INDO-MIM reserves the right to disclose this data to authorized parties at its discretion.
Disciplinary action
Those found to be in violation of this policy may be subject to corrective measures up to and including termination of their employment with INDO-MIM and such violations may also have legal consequences.
Amendments to this policy
The terms of this policy are subject to change at the discretion of INDO-MIM.
